Thanks for everything

The Community Reserve has had a very good year.  We want to acknowledge the people and organizations that have helped the Reserve.

The Lions Club of New Carlisle - Pancake Breakfast
Delta Beta Phi - Bake Sale
Jeff and Rhonda Sutter - use of the barn for storage
Andy Spite owner of Wrap-Pack-and Ship - overflow storage area.
CVS - donation for community volunteer
Wendy Taddeucci - Publicity and your many, many useful ideas.  You have been a great help.
John Cannon and Bruce Shelly - donating parts and labor to get our truck on the road

Dozens of donors---your generous donations make it all possible
The many volunteers who give selflessly to give comfort to those in need.
If I have forgotten anyone, forgive me.

2010 was a year of unbelievable growth.  Thanks to each and every one of you.  We look to the future as expansion must happen if The Community Reserve is to be even more able to aid suffering people.

News from the Community Reserve

Today, 12/20/2010, we received 2 donations.  One was 2 tables, 4 foot round, 1 is a pedistal, one has 4 legs.  The other donation was a 3 piece sectional.
What is new about receiving donations?  Andy Spite from Andy's Furniture and the new Wrap, Pack, and Ship Store, has allowed us to store the larger sized items in his vacant store.  Many thanks to you Andy. Thank you is not enough.

Another thing of importance is:  a need for a baby crib has been identified.  This child is due to arrive soon after the new year and the young mother does not have a crib.  If anyone knows of a crib it would be of great service to pass it on to this  new mother.

Community Closet News

The Commmunity Closet has been busy.  New procedures for receiving donations have been put in place.  The ladies in charge, Robin Humphry and Denise Fullmer, will organize their volunteers and sorting the donations by size and gender before delivery to the Reserve will begin soon.  Once that process starts, clients will be able to see what is avaliable in clothing when at the Reserve for furniture.

The Closet is asking that donations be help up, if possible, till after the first of the year.  Everyone is very busy with the Holidays and time constraints make working the Closet a little difficult.

The ladies plan to have a large clothing Stampede in the spring.  See the earlier posts in this blog to see how the Stampede works.  The blog by putclutterinitsplace.com gives great coverage of that event..

The Reserve thanks everyone that has volunteered and donated to the Reserve and the Closet.  Over 325 people have received furniture and /or clothing in this the first year of our existance.

A WOMAN HELPED

Today, 12/2/2010, a lady was referred to the Reserve by the Salvation Army contact in La Porte.  The woman had signed a pre-nupe and the man decided he wanted out.  He took everything but the wedding gifts. She had nothing.

We were glad to help her with the following list:
gas range, coffee maker, microwave, set of dishes,TV and stand, drop leaf table, 2 straight back chairs, a leather rocker recliner, a small computer desk, floor lamp, and 2 metal file cabinets.

She cried when she saw what was hers.

The inventory at the Reserve is a little low.  The clothing drop at the State Street Church in La Porte and the above list has reduced the item level to a somewhat low level.  But we look forward to  more donations.
